Projects: Mathare Radio

Mathare Radio is a project that gives a voice to residents of Mathare and other marginalized communities. This radio project provides open conversations about issues affecting these communities as well as local and international music, radio plays, news, forums and documentaries. Mathare Radio is predominantly an online project. For my HCI in Entertainment course, some students and I were invited to join the initiative to create the prototype for a mobile application for Mathare Radio.

Before diving into the full design, our team created a paper prototype which we ran by a small user base. More formal user-testing was performed after the prototype was implemented. We used a think-aloud style of testing while the users performed a series of tasks. Questionaires were administered before and after the study.
